tubular changes, mild interstitial infiltration and thrombotic microangiopathy with glomerular infarctions. Acute glomerulonephritis with endocapillary proliferation and acute inflammatory cell infiltrates in glomeruli is not reported. Life-threatening effects have been reported following stings of Indian red scorpion, which is also found in Northern Sri Lanka. Black scorpion is ubiquitous in the rest of the country. However, identification of the species in this case, was based on the description given by relatives. In conclusion, scorpion stings can induce diverse effects on kidney including acute glomerulonephritis. Therefore, healthcare workers should be vigilant to look for complications and sequelae of patients following scorpion sting.
