The adoption of the global strategy for human resources for health by the WHO in 2016 points to the ever pressing need for sufficient human resources for health (Organization, 2016). The FDI has thus proposed for appropriate planning and distribution of Human resources for oral health to meet the oral health needs of the world's rapidly growing and aging population (Glick et al., 2012). Oral diseases are a global concern and affect some over 3.5 billion people across the globe (Kassebaum et al., 2017). The global burden of oral diseases is high and has not seen much improvement over the last decade. Concerted efforts in addressing oral diseases have not yielded expected outcomes and concerns over increase in disease burden in low and middle income countries continue to grow (Kassebaum et al., 2017).
