Although monoterpenes are key aroma determinants in Vitis vinifera , their inheritance patterns in table grape intraspecific hybrids have received limited research attention. This study analysed volatile monoterpenes in V. vinifera ‘Italia’ and ‘Tamina’ and their F 1 progeny over 2 years using headspace solid‐phase microextraction and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (HS‐SPME‐GC‐MS). We detected 25 and 24 monoterpenes in ‘Italia’ and ‘Tamina’, respectively; identified 26 in the progeny; and performed quantitative analysis. We obtained phenotypic segregation ratios of the monoterpenes isolated in the progeny and found that cis ‐isogeraniol, neral, linalool oxide pyranoside and cis ‐rose oxide segregated in progeny consistent with Mendelian inheritance. Quantitative trait analysis showed that several monoterpenes (including linalool, geranic acid and α‐terpineol) exhibited continuous variation profiles, characteristic of quantitative trait inheritance. Notably, β‐myrcene displayed the highest heritability (H 2  = 0.86), with consistent results across both years. In addition, most monoterpenes showed significant positive correlations, though geranic acid and neral showed negative correlations with phellandrene. This work elucidates both qualitative and quantitative inheritance patterns of monoterpenes, providing theoretical guidance for grape breeding and quality improvement.
