A 9-month-old boy experienced sudden-onset cough and dry heaving while playing near a toy box. His elder brother reported that the boy had put something small into his mouth. His symptoms reduced on the way to the hospital. On arrival at hospital, his condition was normal: no cough, dry heaving, or decreased oxygen saturation was observed. He was also able to drink milk. His previous doctor hypothesized that the object he ingested had fallen into the stomach instead of being stuck in the esophagus or airway, and expected this small object to be excreted; but no such object was excreted with the feces.
