After a thorough search in 2017, the Scandinavian Foundation for Immunology has now appointed a new Editor-in-Chief. The new Editor-in-Chief for the Scandinavian Journal of Immunology will be Petter H€oglund from Stockholm, Sweden. The new Editor-in-Chief will continue to take responsibility for the scientific contents of the Scandinavian Journal of Immunology in cooperation with members of the Editorial Board. The Editor-in-Chief has been given full authority to appoint new members of the Editorial Board, whom will assist him in the peer review process and other matters related to the journal. Consequently, we are proud to present Petter H€oglund to the readers of Scandinavian Journal of Immunology. He received his scientific training at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, and obtained his PhD degree in 1993 on a thesis dealing with the recognition mechanisms of natural killer cells in experimental models of cancer and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. He obtained his MD degree at Karolinska Institutet in 1996 and subsequently spent 3 years as postdoctoral fellow with Christophe Benoist and Diane Mathis in Strasbourg, France, working on projects relating to autoimmunity and type 1 diabetes. Since his return to Sweden, he has continued in basic science but also with increasing clinical activities. Petter is presently a Professor of Immunology at Karolinska Institutet with a combined clinical activity at the Department of Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine at the Karolinska University Hospital. His own scientific activity ranges from basic immunology, with a focus on natural killer cell education, to the immunology of clinical transfusion medicine. In the latter field, he is particularly interested in platelets and in the immune barriers to platelet transfusions. The Scandinavian Foundation for Immunology is very proud of having identified Petter H€oglund as a new Editorin-Chief for the journal and wishes him the very best with this new assignment.
