Red blood cell (RBC) phenotypes of the proband and his family members were determined using routine serologic techniques. Briefly, the RBCs of these individuals were reacted with anti-A, anti-B, anti-AB (Shanghai HemoPharmaceutical Biological Company), and anti-H (Dominion Company), and their sera were reacted with standard A, B, and O cells using tube methods. Exons 1 to 7 of the ABO gene were directly sequenced according to our previous method. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
