Delayed hemolytic transfusion reactions (DHTRs) are reported to be rare occurrences but may be more frequently observed in the trauma setting where patients are heavily transfused, followed over long inpatient admissions, and have frequent subsequent blood counts as they undergo multiple surgical interventions.
