Our blood bank has established maximum, minimum, and critical inventory thresholds for blood components based on historical utilization data. During the COVID-19 pandemic, changes in both blood product supply and utilization necessitate the frequent activation of blood component conservation protocols, as previously described, when the inventory for a product falls below the threshold. To facilitate close inventory monitoring, we implemented a blood product inventory dashboard for red blood cells (RBCs) and platelets.
