Abstract Phthiracarus is the second largest genus of ptyctimous mites with nearly cosmopolitan distribution. In the present study, two new species, Phthiracarus cristatus sp. nov. and Phthiracarus brevicarinatus sp. nov., are described from Northeast China. An identification key to all known Chinese species of the genus Phthiracarus is provided.
