Soundscape theory can offer insights into methods that can transform the design of multi-purpose performance venues so that they can come closer to fulfilling their potential as a vibrant facility at the artistic and cultural core of a community every day of the year all day long. This is a design theory guided by technical innovation and philosophical insight that can bring together diverse groups of users and performers; experimental building, acoustical and theatrical systems; and sophisticated, integrative design methods.
