Abstract A new one-step method for the synthesis of an oxygen reduction electrocatalyst based on a nanocomposite of few-layer graphene structures and manganese oxides is proposed. It has been shown that by using the bipolar method of graphite exfoliation in the plasma electrolysis mode in solutions containing manganese salts, it is possible to obtain graphene nanostructures decorated with manganese oxides exhibiting high catalytic activity in the oxygen reduction reaction, which consists in a significant reduction in overpotential and an increase in the oxygen reduction current.
