Elliptoglossa Cooper, 1956 is reported for the first time from the Frasnian, Upper Devonian of the Volga–Ural region. A new species E. kononovae sp. nov. is described. The microstructure of the inner surfaces of the ventral and dorsal valves and outer surface of the dorsal valve are described in detail. The shell microstructure is studied for the protegular and adult shell regions. The protegulum preserved on the both valves.
