Abstract Data on the known-to-date copper(II) complexes with neutral nitrogen-containing ligands (2,2'-bipyridyl, 1,10-phenanthroline, 2,2'-bipyridylamine, aminoguanidine, ammonia, pyridine derivatives, etc.) with boron cluster anions, including those containing bridging OH – and… Click to show full abstract

Abstract Data on the known-to-date copper(II) complexes with neutral nitrogen-containing ligands (2,2'-bipyridyl, 1,10-phenanthroline, 2,2'-bipyridylamine, aminoguanidine, ammonia, pyridine derivatives, etc.) with boron cluster anions, including those containing bridging OH – and $${\text{CO}}_{3}^{{2 - }}$$ groups, are generalized. Mono-, di-, tri-, tetranuclear, and polymer copper(II) complexes are considered; the geometry of copper(II) coordination polyhedra, structural features of complex compounds, and methods for their preparation are discussed. The boron cluster anions [B 10 H 10 ] 2– , [B 12 H 12 ] 2– , [B 10 Cl 10 ] 2– , [B 20 H 18 ] 2– and their derivatives (substituted derivatives, carboranes, and metallacarboranes) have been chosen as counterions.

Keywords: copper; copper complexes; complexes neutral; cluster anions; boron cluster
