All women in the Republic of Ireland should be able to access a legal abortion, a public forum has recommended. The Citizens’ Assembly, which was set up to advise the Irish government on constitutional issues, voted 64% to 36% in favour of introducing unrestricted access to abortion. The vote can only be legislated for after a public referendum, but raises the prospect of a change to Ireland’s strict abortion laws, which allow a pregnancy to be terminated only if there is a serious risk …
