A doctor who tried to submit for publication two research papers written by others has been suspended for 12 months by a medical practitioners tribunal. Mohammed Shali, who qualified in Mysore (now Mysuru), India, in 1998, sent an email in February 2013 to the editor of the International Journal of Clinical Skills attaching two papers. He named himself as first author of “An Unusual Cause of Dyspnoea—Mural Thrombus” and as coauthor of “An Unusual Cause of Dyspnoea—Atrial Myxoma.” The first paper had already been published elsewhere under a different title, and Shali had no role in its authorship.
