The UK government acted unlawfully in locking up too many torture victims in immigration detention centres, a High Court judge has ruled.1 Mr Justice Ouseley backed a legal challenge by seven detainees who were locked up during the asylum process, despite concerns among doctors that they had previously suffered torture. They were joined in bringing the claim by Medical Justice, a charity working for the health rights of detainees.
