A former specialist registrar at Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust in London has won a High Court appeal against a “flawed” decision of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service to strike him off the UK medical register.1 The tribunal decided in May 2017 that Ganeshmoorthi Arunachalam should be struck off, even though the General Medical Council had argued at the tribunal hearing that he should be suspended. In May to July 2014 Arunachalam sent inappropriate personal messages to one trainee doctor, named as “A,” although without using sexual language.
