The UK government is asking the Committee on Climate Change, an independent advisory body, to give advice on working towards a net zero carbon emissions economy by 2050. The announcement was made by Claire Perry, minister for energy and clean growth, during a parliamentary debate on 24 April. “We are the first developed country to ask for advice on what a zero emissions economy would look like in 2050,” said Perry.
