Poor access to GP services is not associated with increased visits to emergency departments, an analysis of data for London hospitals, which found patients using hospital emergency departments (EDs) more frequently also saw their GP more often, has shown.1 “This analysis provides strong evidence that increasing numbers of physical and mental morbidities drive attendance rates at EDs,” the researchers, led by Sally Hull from Queen Mary University of London, said.
