A High Court judge has given the go ahead for a 43 year old doubly incontinent man to have a colostomy, after hearing that doctors feared that he would die from septic shock within four to six weeks unless the procedure was performed. The ruling was made in August in the Court of Protection but has just been published. Mr Justice Moor ruled that it would be “overwhelmingly” in the interests of the man, referred to as SJ, to have the operation.
