Doctors have a “duty” to speak up about the risks that Brexit poses to patients, the BMA has said. Chaand Nagpaul, the association’s chair of council, said that the UK’s departure from the EU might prevent doctors giving their patients the care they need. “As doctors, we have an ingrained duty of care and we adhere to the maxim of ‘do no harm,’” he said. “We have a professional responsibility to raise concerns when we believe there will be detriment to patient care.
