Johnson and Johnson, and its subsidiary DePuy Orthopaedics, have agreed to pay $120m (£92m; €106m) to settle claims from a coalition of attorneys-general from 46 US states that they endangered consumers by falsely advertising and misrepresenting the durability of their hip implantation devices. The settlement ends the legal battle over metal hip implants for the states, but not for the manufacturer, which still faces over 10 thousand individual claims.
