Surveillance for cholangiocarcinoma in patients living with large-duct primary sclerosing cholangitis with the aim of diagnosing these cancers early and allowing potentially curative treatment, is suggested in international guidelines. The evidence supporting this approach is limited and this debate presents arguments in favour and against surveillance for cholangiocarcinoma.
