CASE 1 A 37yearold nulliparous patient was referred following diagnosis of a squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix on a conization specimen. The lesion measured 24×10 mm with involved margins at 6 and 12 o’clock with foci of lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI). Physical examination of the cervix revealed postconization changes without parametrial or vaginal involvement. Postprocedure magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was of limited value with artifacts due to inflammation. Positron emission tomographycomputed tomography (PETCT) imaging exhibited moderate uptake in the cervix, consistent with postoperative changes, without evidence of lymph node involvement. Subsequent random cervical biopsies were performed and were negative for disease. The patient wished to pursue fertility preservation.
