A 36-year-old woman with insignificant medical history presented to the emergency department with high fever and sore throat. Her body temperature was 38.5°C and pharyngeal erythema was observed. The rapid antigen-detection test for group A streptococcus (GAS) and antistreptolysin O titre were positive. A 10-day course of oral amoxicillin–clavulanate was prescribed, and fever and throat symptoms resolved. Few days later, low-grade fever appeared, accompanied by fatigue, malaise and arthralgias.
