A 61-year-old man presented with floaters in his right eye for the past 2 weeks. He had a history of poorly controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus for the past 16 years along with deranged renal function parameters. Visual acuity was 20/20 in both eyes. Fundus examination of the right eye revealed mild vitreous haemorrhage along with proliferative diabetic retinopathy showing florid retinal neovascularisation (NVE) nasal to the optic disc (figure 1A).
