The Sexually Transmitted Infection Foundation (STIF) programme was launched in 2002 and was designed around the National Sexual Health Strategy.1 Since then, it has continuously been developed with the contribution of an active multidisciplinary steering group. STIF courses have taken place in different areas of the UK, with more than 25 000 participants over the years, with consistently excellent feedback. Between 2007 and 2009, the STIF competency training was developed following recognition that some GP practices were being commissioned to provide more complexed sexual health services. It has developed into a training package which uses the STIF course and e-learning for health as its theory basis and is now the only comprehensive competency and assessment training for STI available in the UK.2 Recently, the STIF theory and competency group have aligned its objectives and meetings under two co-chairs who work together to ensure that both remain updated …
