CHOLESTEROL deficiency (CD) was recently reported in Holstein calves by Dutch and German workers (Kipp and others 2015). CD affects calves which are homozygous for a particular genetic defect, while heterozygous animals ‘carry’ the trait. A key feature of this condition, as the name implies, is the inability to maintain an adequate blood cholesterol concentration.
