I was very concerned to read the article ‘Let’s give vets’ mundane work to nurses’ ( VR , 9 March 2019, vol 184, p 299). Although the concept that nurses should do more clinical work is worthwhile, the way in which Simon Innes described the idea was very poorly worded for the following reasons. First, to say that nurses should do a vet’s ‘mundane’ work is very demeaning of the registered veterinary nurse (RVN) role.
