David Burch ( VR , 16 November 2019, vol 185, p 603) eloquently precised Day and colleagues paper on extended spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) producing- Escherichia coli in human and food chain derived samples from England, Wales and Scotland1 and its conclusions that ‘findings do not support the assertion that invasive ESBL E coli are disseminated via the food chain’.
