This monthly summary is produced for Vet Record by Scotland’s Rural College Veterinary Services (SRUC VS) and is based on reports from its centres in Edinburgh, Perth, St Boswells, Ayr (Auchincruive), Dumfries, Aberdeen, Inverness and Thurso and in collaboration with the Moredun Research Institute. THE mean temperatures in August and September in Scotland were 0.8°C and 0.5°C above the respective long-term averages. It was Scotland’s wettest August in a series since 1910 with 190 per cent of average rainfall. Rainfall figures for September were close to average, but it remained wet in the south and rather drier further north.
