Sensorimotor adaptation requires integration of internal models of motor control with feedback from the external environment. As highlighted by Brudner, Kethidi, Graeupner, Ivry, and Taylor (J Neurophysiol 115: 1499-1511, 2016), feedback characteristics, error or outcome based, as well as temporal constraints can impact motor learning and adaptation strategies. These findings provide novel insight into the underlying components of motor control, which can be applied to future clinical and experimental research on motor processes.
