The major histocompatibility complex on antigen-presenting cells recognizes tumorassociated antigens on the surface of cancer cells and presents the antigen to T-cell receptors on immature T cells upon migration of antigen-presenting cells to the lymph nodes. Immature T cells are not activated by antigen stimulation (first signal) alone, but also require an activating costimulatory signal (second signal). The second signal is provided by the binding of Received: June 14, 2019 Accepted: June 14, 2019 Published online: July 9, 2019
