We thank Murray and Barrow for their response to our article, Trends in Recruitment Rates for Acute Stroke Trials, 1990–2014.1 We agree that one contributing factor to slow recruitment in acute stroke trials is the enhanced ability of Primary Stroke Centers to manage acute strokes and, in turn, the diminished need to transfer patients to regional academic medical centers where clinical trials are often based.
