The bopyrid isopod Bopyrina ocellata was obtained from the caridean shrimp Hippolyte inermis , collected on seagrass meadows of Posidonia oceanica and Zostera ( Zostera ) marina in the Sea of Marmara, Turkey. This is the first record of the genus Bopyrina from the Sea of Marmara. One-hundred-and-seventy-eight individuals of H. inermis were collected from the sampling area, of which 21 specimens (11.80%) were parasitized in the branchial chamber by B. ocellata .
