The Oriental leafhopper genus Taperus Li & Wang and its type species are redescribed, together with three new species, T. bannaensis, sp. n., T. quadragulatus, sp. n. and T. luchunensis, sp. n., are described and illustrated. In addition, T. flavifrons (Matsumura) (Onukia), comb. n. is proposed, and Taperus bimaculatus Cai & Shen, T. discolor Cai & Shen and T. lanpingensis Li & Wang are transferred to Convexana Li. A checklist and a key to all species of Taperus are provided.
