Cullen et al report the outcomes of 38 patients with mycotic aortic aneurysms (MAAs) offered endovascular repair (n 1⁄4 21), open surgery (n 1⁄4 10), or medical therapy alone (n 1⁄4 7). Median (range) survival was longer in the endovascular (747.0 [161.0-1249.0] days) compared with the open surgery (507.5 [34.0-806.0] days) and the medical group (66.0 [13.0-146.0] days; for both associations, P 1⁄4 .02). In contrast, complications were higher in the open surgery compared with the endovascular and the medical groups (80 vs 42.9 vs 0%, respectively; P < .001). Finally, there were more reinterventions following endovascular MAA repair (21.1 vs 0 vs 0%, respectively; P 1⁄4 .02). Overall, 4 conclusions may be drawn from this study:
