accommodation theory and the variables that must be considered across a variety of interactions to achieve successful outcomes. In chapter 16 (“Intergroup Communication Perspectives on Military Families and the Military-Civilian Divide”), Wilson and Chernichky focus on communication within the military and between military personnel and civilians, clearly articulating the importance of effective communication within the organization as well as between the organization and those outside its membership (i.e., military personnel and civilians). These three chapters focus on intergroup communication from an organizational communication perspective more than they focus on communication “IN” organizations, as the label to the section states.
