Access to extensive medical information on the World Wide Web has satiated some of our patient’s desire for information and expectations regarding medical procedures, which is a good thing. However, increased transparency and public awareness of medical errors has opened up a Pandora’s Box regarding a physician’s skill level and experience. While ‘‘ain’t nothing like the real thing’’ is unarguably the best way to learn any motor skill, having solid theoretical and practical experience makes the transition to live cases complications and case-based solutions easier. The editors, Professors Stefan Mueller-Huelsbeck and Thomas Jahnke, both recognized leaders in the field, along with seven contributors, have closed this gap elegantly with the text-book Complications in Vascular Interventional Therapy: Case-Based Solutions. The book consists of five chapters. The first chapter after the introduction is dedicated to definitions of minor and major complications. The authors provide a complete and comprehensive review of this subject. Although the intended reader of some passages might be more of an expert, this is an invaluable source of information for anyone who wants to broaden their knowledge. The book provides a deeper understanding and respect of the different complications that may occur in endovascular work and is well explained, together with examples of individual cases in the later chapters in the book. It should be noted that it was not possible to discuss all case complications, but it is on a more general level. In the final chapter, the authors give a good overview of suggested further reading. Overall, the text is richly illustrated with images, easy to read, and well referenced.
