The Board of the Foundation Acta Radiologica has decided that Professor Henrik S Thomsen (Fig. 1) from Herlev, Denmark will be the new Chief Editor of Acta Radiologica from 1 January 2018, succeeding Professor Arnulf Skjennald who has served three five-year terms as Chief Editor. Professor Thomsen was born in 1953 and obtained his MD at the University of Copenhagen in 1979. He obtained his PhD in 1984 and was certified as a radiologist in 1993. From 1996, he served as a consultant at the Department of Radiology, Copenhagen University at Herlev, where he was appointed Professor of Radiology in 1999. Professor Thomsen has been editor or co-editor of 11 books, mainly within uroradiology and contrast media. He has been author or co-author of more than 600 manuscripts, the majority being original papers, but a substantial number are on educational and/or informative issues as well. Professor Thomsen has been a reviewer of more than 20 international journals and for the last 12 years has been editor of the uroradiology section of Acta Radiologica. Professor Thomsen is unusually well-prepared for his new position as Chief Editor in our two journals, Acta Radiologica and Acta Radiologica Open. The journal Acta Radiologica will have been published for 100 years in 2021, and Professor Thomsen will be the sixth chief editor in this 100-year period. We wish him congratulations with his new and important position in Nordic and international publishing.
