Dear Editor, A very interesting and endearing article about the origins of the ESVP (European Society of Veterinary Pathology) was recently published in Veterinary Pathology by Andreas Pospischil and Walter Hermanns. Reading the article, I have verified that among the national associations of veterinary pathologists in Europe that were founded since 1953 (Page 3, Table 2), the Spanish Society of Veterinary Pathology (SEAPV; http://www.uco. es/grupos/seapv/) is not mentioned. Moreover, societies with a long history in their countries do not also appear in the article by Pospischil and Hermanns. The SEAPV was founded in 1989, and since then has had uninterrupted activity. Currently, the SEAPV has 152 active members, including all types of veterinary pathologists, from young fellows in training to senior veterinary pathologists; they usually belong to public and private universities, industry as well as private laboratories. Since the foundation of the SEAPV, an Annual Scientific and Continuing Education Meeting is organized, led by different Spanish veterinary faculties and other research institutions on a rotating basis. Different European and American veterinary pathologists have actively contributed to different SEAPV editions. The establishment of the SEAPV and other national veterinary pathology societies is well referenced in a recent article published by Munro et al. On behalf of the SEAPV members, I would greatly appreciate if you would consider publishing this letter to update the information about the active veterinary pathology societies founded in Europe.
