Sir, Mesenteric panniculitis (MP), characterized by chronic inflammation of the mesenteric adipose tissue, leads to thickening of the mesentery; it is rarely observed in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Herein, we present a case of MP in an elderly patient with SLE. A 78-year-old woman with chronic polyarthralgia that persisted for 16 years presented to our university hospital for mild lower abdominal pain that began 1month before admission. Fatigue and appetite loss were also observed during the prior 6months. Her body temperature was 36.2 C. Swelling and tenderness in the left wrist, as well as in the metatarsophalangeal joints bilaterally, and mild tenderness on her lower abdomen were observed, whereas no other physical symptoms or neurological disorders were found.
