Over the past few decades, there has been a wider recognition of peripheral vascular disease as a unique set of disease processes that affect a larger population of patients than initially appreciated. Development of pathology-specific vascular registries has become even more important to advance the understanding of vascular disease and to provide evidence-based care to groups of previously under-recognized and subsequently under-treated patients. Here, we present examples of several successful vascular registries that focus on disease processes that affect various vascular beds throughout the body and have helped patients and providers alike better understand pathophysiology and outcomes and optimize patient care. These registries capture a spectrum of common to rare vascular diseases and many of these registries have benefitted from the participation and leadership of vascular medicine specialists and members of the Society for Vascular Medicine (SVM), as well as vascular surgeons and other cardiovascular specialists (Table 1).
