addition, both of them are permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and the main producers of greenhouse gases in the world. Therefore, the nature and essence of their relationship is of germane importance for other nations and the future of the international order. The main discussion of the authors is that the United States, as a global superpower, and China, as an emerging power in East Asia, should be able to control the conflicts in their mutual relations. In other words, as opposed to the pertaining pessimistic views, future animosity is not necessary in the forthcoming affairs of the two nations and there is no need for conflict and struggle. The authors review the relations of the two nations with an optimistic perspective. The book consists of 10 chapters which discuss several topics such as economic relations, human rights, media roles, development, regional and global safety, environmental concerns, clean energy and military rivalry. Each section has been written by a renowned specialist in the relevant field which only adds to the scientific value of the work. This book is intended for research and scientific institutions, and strategists and policy makers of US–China relations. The most favourable feature of this book is that specialists from both China and the US have authored several pieces explaining and describing their respective nation’s policies and views on each topic. Throughout the book, the respective strategies of each country, that is, Chinese and American perspectives, has been clearly explained. Thus, it is presumable that the authors have achieved their intentions in writing a comprehensive and impressive political piece. Since some of the authors are key figures in inter-state relations policy and strategic planning, it can be assumed that this book can actually influence the mutual relations of the two nations. In conclusion, it must be said that the overtly optimistic tone of the piece does not match the realities and existing problems between the two nations.
