Needless to say, there are many figures presented in the book who remain (to varying degrees) involved in contemporary politics (e.g. Neil Kinnock, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and Ed Miliband). However, it is the chapters on those who have left the stage of Labour politics that are more likely to stand the test of time. This is simply because their contributions are now a matter of historical record. This book will clearly be of use to students and scholars of Labour history. But it may also be of interest to those researching political leadership, statecraft and the broader issues of party management. Established scholars of Labour history will find little new here, although it would still be a useful addition to their reading lists.
