how nurses perceive their role, utilising a qualitative approach and interpretive description (ID) methodology. was utilised to recruit a convenience sample of 20 nurses and nursing students, and the some helpful demographic details. Each took part in a semi-structured interview (face to face or via Skype) to generate data for analysis. The playing a Resilience Challenge video game with clinically based scenarios to stimulate re fl ection on the participants ’ own practice after each game. The transcripts were then coded, based on the ID process of Thorne (2008), to identify common themes from which novel understandings could underpin more robust support and planning for safe staf fi ng levels.
