Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in many developed nations, accounting for one-half of all deaths in some countries. Research into the causes of these diseases spans diverse fields, and it is vital that researchers and clinicians remain fully informed about aspects of cardiovascular risk outside their own specialities. It has become clear that there is a need for a central forum for the presentation of original research in this multidisciplinary field, and the Journal of Cardiovascular Risk has been launched to answer this need.
