Dyspnea is the most important respiratory symptom. Objectivization of its severity is an important evaluation parameter of health condition. Objective: to evaluate the prevalence of respiratory symptoms in the rural population. Results: completed questionnaires 3621 resident, including the 1505 primary health care (PHC) based patients, and 2116 household based patients, living on the territory of the settlements included in the research. The age of the respondents is 53.7 ±1.0 years for PHC based patients and 49.9 ±1.6 years for household based patients. Male is accounted for 31.5% and 34.4% respectively in both groups. Dyspnea was noted by 30.2% of respondents. The severity of dyspnea on the MRC scale was: MRC 1 - male 19,96%, female 35,34% (p 0,05). There is an increase in the frequency of occurrence and severity of dyspnea with age. Dyspnea MRC 5 was noted in the age group 18-39 years - 0%, 40-49 years - 1.48%, 50-59 years - 2.32%, 60-69 years - 3.59%, over 70 years - 7.6% (p Conclusions: the prevalence of dyspnea increases with age, and female more often note the presence of dyspnea, which should be taken into account when conducting research. The reason for the higher prevalence of dyspnea among female may be related to the particularity of hormonal status and requires additional research.
