I read with interest the article by Sauro et al.1 on hospital safety among neurologic patients. In response, Dr. Giannouli asked: “Are population-based studies an Achilles' heel for hospital safety research?”2 To this, I argue, “No.” In an era of (mis)information overload, where health policies risk being misled by survey/cross-sectional data, safety research needs to be guided by higher-quality population-based studies.
