In “Sex-specific stroke incidence over time in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Stroke Study,” Madsen et al. found that an overall reduction in stroke incidence over time is driven by a decrease in stroke in men. Commenting on the article, Dr. Kuller notes that the study includes only age-adjusted rates and it is important to provide age-specific rates by sex in order to interpret age-adjusted trends of stroke reported in the article.
